Quarter-Career Gap Year

The original plan was to live outside the U.S. for a year, maybe two.

Didn't turn out exactly as planned – but when does anything turn out exactly as planned?

The result: from Summer 2013 to Summer 2014, I did some traveling, writing, and volunteering that took me to six countries – India, Finland, Brazil, Peru, Jamaica, and Antigua.

I call it my Quarter-Career Gap Year.

Some of my favorite experiences were my volunteer experiences: when I taught English to youth and adult students in Brazil and Peru, and when I lived and worked with families in Finland.

But I did so much more, and learned a great deal along the way, so I'll be writing about it in my blog and linking to the stories below.
